End Times, Israel

Israel plays a major role in the end times.

Israel plays a major role in the end times, according to bible prophecy. God has unfinished business with Israel. He made an unconditional covenant with Abraham for land, and He brought them into the promised land. Secondly, He made a conditional covenant with Moses and the people. They could not keep their side, and He fulfilled it himself at the cross. Thirdly, God made an unconditional covenant with David, and this is still to be fulfilled.

God is a God of integrity, He makes promises and He keeps promises. God is moving, and the stage is set. Once the church is raptured out, it is all about Israel. See more End Times, the scope
Ezekiel 36:21 “I had pity for mine holy name, which the house of Israel had profaned among the heathen. 22. ….I do not this for your sakes, O house of Israel, but for mine holy name sake.”

In the story of the Exodus, God brought Israel out of Egypt to bring them into a promised land. He brought them, with great wonder, through the red sea. Yet, the people murmured and complained.
Numbers 14:11-12 “The Lord said to Moses “How long will these people treat me with contempt? How long will they refuse to believe in me, in spite of all the signs I have performed among them? I will strike them down…. and make you (Moses) into a great nation.”
Moses did not accept the offer, because he was concerned about the integrity of his Lord, Yahweh. Numbers 14:15-16 “The nations who have heard this report about you will say, ‘The Lord was not able to bring these people into the land he promised them on oath’.”
Even more astonishing is God’s patience with Israel. A trip that should have taken days, took 40 years, but God did what He promised. He brought them into the promised land.

God made an unconditional covenant with king David. A ruler will come from his seed to rule from Jerusalem, for ever. 2 Samuel 7:16 And thine house and thy kingdom shall be established for ever before thee: thy throne shall be established for ever. 28 “Your covenant is trustworhty, and you have promised …”
Psalm 89
20. I have found David my servant
28. my covenant with him will never fail.
34. I will not violate my covenant
or alter what my lips have uttered.
35. Once for all, I have sworn by My holiness,
and I will not lie to David
Mary was a Jewish maiden, and she knew about the Davidic covenant.  She understood what the angel told her. Luke 1:30-33 “and the Lord shall give unto him the throne of his father David, and He shall reign over the house of Jacob (twelve tribes of Israel) for ever.”
Jesus himself said “I am not sent but unto the house of Israel.” (Matthew 15:24). He came to fulfil the promise made to David.
The disciples understood it. Acts 1:6 “Lord, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel?” The disciples anticipated a kingdom on earth. Christ did not correct them, rather He replied “it is not for you to know the time.”

The most staggering events about Israel is still to come. The God of integrity, that brought Israel after 40 years into the promised land, is doing it again. The fulfilment of the promise to David is outstanding.  It could have taken 33 years, instead it is taking 2000 years. This is the heartfelt character of our God. 2 Timothy 2:13 “If we are faithless, He remains faithful; He cannot deny Himself.”
Jesus Christ came to do the redemption work, and then to set up the promised kingdom. Israel rejected the Messiah, “the anointed one”. The one that came to be anointed as king, and to tabernacle (live) with his people.
Israel is in the waiting, again. God side-stepped unbelieving Israel, to reach the gentiles. It was his plan for the nation of Israel to spread the gospel. Instead, He raised one Jew, the apostle Paul, and gave the gospel to him to spread to the apostles and the gentiles.

Fast moving events in the word, and in the Middle East, is thrusting towards a grand finale to come. Yes, God is moving to fulfil every promise He made, every bible prophecy.
Seven years of suffering, known as the “time of tribulation” will come to an end at Armageddon. A day when the whole world will gather against Israel.  Zachariah 12:2-3 “Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling unto all the people round about, when they shall be in the siege both against Judah and Jerusalem. ….all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it.”
This is the profound moment when Israel, as a nation, will admit they pierced their Messiah. Zechariah 12:10 “I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son”
Yes, a moment when the whole world unites against small Israel.  Israel will look up and they will beg their Messiah to come back. Christ Jesus will come to their rescue, and wins the battle of Armageddon (Revelation 19). This is when Messiah will come to live with His people, and rule from Jerusalem.
Joseph in the Bible, is a type of Jesus. Jesus brothers did not recognised him when he came the first time. We read in Genesis 42:8 “Joseph recognised his brothers, they did not recognise him.”
Further down, and we read in Genesis 45:1-2 “There was no one with Joseph when he made himself known to his brothers. And he wept so loudly that the Egyptians heard him.” Alas, what a moment when they will recognised their “Jewish brother” at the second coming.
What a gripping moment when Joseph says to his brothers: “And now, do not be distressed and do not be angry with yourselves for selling me here, because it was to save lives.” (Genesis 45:5)

In “The Blood Feud”, I wrote about satan setting up traps for Israel to prevent the birth of the Messiah. See more The Blood Feud
Satan is an avid student of God’s plans, for the sake of self preservation. Satan, and his minions, have tried many times to wipe the Jews of the face of the earth.
The “Book of War” says: “to know your enemy, you have to become your enemy.” I want to point you to a time in history when a savage nation converted to become Jews. It happened in the Caucasus, under king Bulan, over a 500 year period. To this day they are doing much evil in the name of the Jewish people. We say “God is done with Israel as a nation”, but God says in Jeremiah 31:35 The Lord, who appoints the sun to shine by day, who decrees the moon and stars to shine by night…. 36. Only if these decrees vanish from my sight, will Israel ever cease being a nation before me.”
We say we are children of God. God says yes, but Israel is my firstborn child. Exodus 4:22 “Then say to Pharaoh, ‘This is what the Lord says: Israel is my firstborn son.”
We say we are the bride of Christ. God says to Israel in Jeremiah 3:14 “Return, O backsliding children,” says the Lord; “for I am married to you.”
The book of Hosea is a heartfelt story of a husband who has an unfaithful wife, but He lures her back with much patience. Hosea 3:5 Afterward shall the children of Israel return, and seek the Lord their God, and David their king; and shall fear the Lord and his godness in the latter days.
God’s faithfulness to Israel lasts forever.  This is His character, and it should encourage us.  If He never gives up on Israel, why would He ever give up on us?
