Bible Prophecy is Trusting God

Trusting Bible Prophecy is About Trusting God

Bible prophecy is a matter of faith, taking God on His word. It is trusting Him that everything He says will come true. It is about what we cannot yet see and believe one day will happen because God said so.

When we look at Israel today, in hindsight, we forget it was a Bible prophecy that God fulfilled in 1948. Once, its people were scattered all over the world, but God had a plan for Israel, and He foretold that He would gather them from all the corners of the world and bring them back to their land. In the years before it happened, many brave men and women looked forward to God fulfilling His promise and were mocked for it.

Isaiah 43
"5Do not be afraid, for I am with you; I will bring your children from the east and gather you from the west.

6I will say to the north, 'Give them up!' and to the south, 'Do not hold them back.' Bring my sons from afar and my daughters from the ends of the earth."

One-third of the Bible is prophecy. It is uniquely found only here, and does not exist in the Quran, Book of Mormon, or any other book of wisdom.

How could God know what would happen thousands of years ago when He gave the prophecies? Time is a dimension; you and I are bound by it since we are three-dimensional beings. God is not. He saw the future at the beginning.

Foretelling through the ages is something that only the true God can do. Nearly one-third of our Bible consists of Prophecy. The Quran and every other religious book have none of it.

God addresses it three times in the book of Isaiah.

Isaiah 41:22-23

"Let them bring forth and show us what will happen; Let them show the former things, what they were, That we may consider them, And know the latter end of them; Or declare to us things to come. Show the things that are to come hereafter, That we may know that you are gods; Yes, do good or do evil, That we may be dismayed and see it together."

Isaiah 46:9-10

"Remember the former things of old, For I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is non like Me, Declaring the end from the beginning, And from ancient times things that are not yet done, Saying, 'My counsel shall stand, And I will do all My pleasure."

Isaiah 48:3-5

"I have declared the former things from the beginning; They went forth from My mouth, and I caused them to hear it. Suddenly I did them, and they came to pass... Even from the beginning I have declared it to you; Before it came to pass I proclaimed it to you, Lest you should say, 'My idol has done them, And my carved image and my moulded image Have commanded them."

Many people cannot wrap their heads around Bible prophecy, but it does not mean we should negate it. God has done it before, and His track record is 100% correct. Let me give some more examples:

God foretold what we now know as the Exodus.

Genesis 15

13Then the Lord said to him, "Know for certain that for four hundred years your descendants will be strangers in a country not their own and that they will be enslaved and mistreated there.

14But I will punish the nation they serve as slaves, and afterward they will come out with great possessions."

God foretold the 70 years captivity in Babylon.

Jeremiah 25

"11This whole country will become a desolate wasteland, and these nations will serve the king of Babylon seventy years.

12But when the seventy years are fulfilled, I will punish the king of Babylon and his nation, the land of the Babylonians, for their guilt, declares the Lord, and will make it desolate forever."

God foretold the scene at the crucifixion. See more here Crucifixion, prophecy fulfilled.

God communicates to us through Bible prophecy. He wants us to know that He is the true God that we may believe.

John 13:19

"I am telling you now before it happens, so that when it does happen you will believe that I am who I am."

Peter wrote that Bible prophecy would shine light into darkness. It will bring hope for the believer when the world is losing hope.

2 Peter 1:19

"We also have the prophetic message as something completely reliable, and you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a light shining in a dark place."

God has set a time for everything. Bible prophecy was dormant for many years, but we are heading towards the end of the age, and God is waking up his Church to be ready.

Daniel 12:4

"But you, Daniel, roll up and seal the words of the scroll until the time of the end."

Chuck Missler once said “We live in a time that the Bible says more about, then any other period of time. Including the time when Jesus walked on the shores of Galilea.”

If it matters to God, then it should matter to us. The book of Revelation is loaded with Bible prophecy, and out of all the books in the Bible, it is the only book that promises a blessing to those who read it and pay attention to it.

Revelation 1:3

"Blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it."

Revelation 22:7

"Blessed is the one who keeps the words of the prophecy written in this scroll."

To understand the many idioms and allusions in Revelation, one has to trace back to the Old Testament, and its Jewish roots.

As the Gospel spread throughout the Greco-Roman world, a Greek worldview began to influence and redefine Bible prophecy based on Greek philosophy.

Eventually, full-blown replacement theology, the Church replacing Israel, was born. Thus, the book appears so strange today, and we find it difficult to understand.
